Gentleman Scholar, a group of motion graphics artists in Culver City, actively curates the aesthetic of a man-of-leisure surrounded by a collection of curiosities and industrial relics. They came to us looking for a suite of furniture that would fit the new space that architect Bruce Bolander had designed for them, but would also have an aesthetic of its own. We took their suggested sketch of where furniture might live and rotated it on itself to align with the angled walls Bruce envisioned. The resulting overlay became a jumping off point and created an idea of two sets of furniture existing at once woven together with craft and material.
